legend has it
for 75 years

During the 1950s, the American economy roared, giving birth to the golden age of advertising. It was during these years that two competing marketing giants, Jonathan “Buddy” Stern (from Chicago) and Nathaniel Edgar Bow (from New York City), first met.
Legend has it that this encounter occurred on July 21, 1950, in Havana, Cuba, aboard Ernest Hemingway’s yacht Pilar. Hemingway invited both men down for his birthday celebration and to participate in the 1950 International Billfish Tournament.
No one knows for certain what transpired on that trip, but these two unlikely bedfellows returned to the harbor with a prize catch, several empty bottles of rum, and a few damp cigars. With a quick pinch of fresh-squeezed lime, these two gentlemen raised their glasses of Santiago de Cuba Rum and became partners.

What followed was nearly four decades of legendary brands and award-winning marketing campaigns centered around a shared approach: research thoroughly, listen closely, work hard, push the boundaries, and prove your value daily.
75 years later, the spirit of Buddy Stern and Nathan Bow is alive and well in BowStern.
Just as ours does, your brand must tell a story. When properly developed, it will inspire people beyond reason and turn them into loyal ambassadors.
